“Smile!! It’s not the end of the world” by VIBRASTONE

ビブラストーン (Vibrastone) とは、近田春夫 (Chikada Haruo) ともう一人のラッパー、ドクター・トミー (Dr. Tommy) を中心として、音楽的な側面に関してはオト (Oto) が全面にイニシアティヴを握った、総勢12人による人力ラップ・グループ。
大雑把に説明しようとすれば、こんな言辞となるだろう。
個人的にはリアル・タイムな体験もあるせいだろう、近田春夫 (Chikada Haruo) のこれまでの活動の中で、最もダイナミズムに溢れたモノと思っている。
1987年から1996年の間、活動し、全4作品のアルバムを発表している。
今回取り上げるのは、その第2作。1993年に発表された。

Jun Shiratori was created for the tv animation series "Science Ninja Team Gatchaman" 1972 - 1974 produced by Tatsunoko Production. Jun Shiratori was a one of the members for Science Ninja Team.
Her cord name was G-3 and worked with other four members for world peace against Galactor.

Yuki Honma, the sacrifice

Yuki Honma was created by Mikiya Mochizuki for the comic "Wild Seven" 1969 - 1979. In this comic, she was one of the members for the Wild Seven. She tried to kill herself in order of trying to rescue Dairoku Hiba, the leader of the Wild Seven from his mortal destiny.

ザ・ビートルズ (The Beatles) が糞虫 (Dung Beetle) でない様に、ザ・モンキーズ (The Monkees) が猿公 (Monkey) でない様に、ザ・ラトルズ (The Rutles) はロックンロール (Rock And Roll) の古典『シェイク・ラトル・アンド・ロール (Shake, Rattle And Roll)』 [オリジネイターはビッグ・ジョー・ターナー (Big Joe Turner) 1954年発表] でもお馴染の「ガラガラ (Rattle)」という単語を捻って命名された。
では、モンティ・パイソン (Monty Python) と謂う名称は、どこから来たのだろう。

『永遠の詩集 [シンニード・シングス・スタンダード] (am I not your girl?)』 by シンニード・オコナー (Sinead O'connor)

アーティスト名の表記に関して、最初にお断り。

現在の彼女の日本語表記は、シネイド・オコナー (Sinead O'connor) に統一されつつあるのだけれども、1987年にデヴューした当初のそれは、シンニード・オコナー (Sinead O'connor) であり、AmazonやiTunes Storeでの表記は、シニード・オコナー (Sinead O'connor) である。
ぼくがこの作品を購入した際の表記は、上掲の様にシンニード・オコナー (Sinead O'connor) だったので拙稿のタイトルは、それに従ったものである。
以降、アーティストとしての彼女を指し示す場合は、シネイド・オコナー (Sinead O'connor) と表記する事にする。

この作品に出逢った時の、目眩めいたモノの感触は今でも憶えている。
外資系の大手輸入盤店の、どこに行っても、新着コーナーの最前列にこのCDが並んでいたのである。俗に言う"面出し"というやつである。
そして、整然と並べられているCDの脇に添えられた、手書きポップには、殆ど総てと言っていい、共通の言葉が書き連ねてあったのである。
アンディ・パートリッジ (Andy Partridge)・プロデュース、と。
1993年の事である。
