『ジョー・ジョーンズ・トリオ feat. レイ・ブライアント (JO JONES TRIO)』 by ジョー・ジョーンズ (JO JONES)

本作品の主人公ジョー・ジョーンズ (Jo Jones) は、カウント・ベイシー・オーケストラ (The Count Basie Orchestra) [1934〜1948年在籍] 出身のドラマー (Drummer) で、カウント・ベイシー (Count Basie) が率いていたスモール・コンボ、カンザス・シティ・セブン (Kansas City Seven) [1939、1944年] のメンバーでもあった。
と、同時に彼が在籍していた時代のカウント・ベイシー・オーケストラ (The Count Basie Orchestra) のリズム・セクション、つまり、カウント・ベイシー (Count Basie : p)、フレディ・グリーン (Freddie Green : g)、ウォルター・ペイジ (Walter Page : b) そしてジョー・ジョーンズ (Jo Jones : dr)は、オール・アメリカン・リズム・セクション (The All-American Rhythm Section) と称され、稀代の名リズム・セクション (Rhythm Section)と讃えられていたのである。

『ライブ・イン・ジャパン (LIVE AT THE BUDOKAN)』 by イアン・ギラン・バンド (IAN GILLAN BAND)

この作品を聴く以前に、イアン・ギラン (Ian Gillan) が所属していたバンド、ディープ・パープル (Deep Purple) のライヴ・アルバム『ライヴ・イン・ジャパン (Made in Japan)』 [1972年発表] は既に体験していたし、そのバンドは既になかった。彼が所属していたそのバンドから脱退した理由のひとつであるバンド内での確執の一方の当事者、リッチー・ブラックモア (Ritchie Blackmore) は自身のバンド、レインボウ (Rainbow) でのライヴ・アルバム『オン・ステージ (On Stage)』 [1977年発表] も、同時期にぼくは聴いていた。
時代はパンク (Punk) 〜ニュー・ウェイヴ (New Wave) 直前であって、その最初期に登場したバンド〜アーティストの作品の幾つかは既に耳にしていた頃だ。

ブライアン・ウィルソン (Brian Wilson) やケイト・ブッシュ (Kate Bush)、アンディ・パートリッヂ (Andy Partridge) やプリンス (Prince)、そしてもしかしてシド・バレット (Syd Barrett)。
彼らに連なる系譜のなかに、この拙稿の主人公であるテレンス・トレント・ダービー (Terence Trent D'Arby) を加えたいと謂ったら、納得してくれるだろうか。
つまり、ぼくは音楽における魔術に魅せられたばかりか、それを産み出す工房、すなわちレコーディング・スタジオ (Recording Studio) のマジック (Magick) に囚われてしまったヒトビトの系譜のなかに、彼を置いてみたいと想うのだ。

“ALIEN SOUNDTRACKS” by CHROME

映画『エイリアン (Alien)』 [リドリー・スコット (Ridley Scott) 監督作品 1979年発表] のサウンド・トラック盤『エイリアン (Complete Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Alien)』 [音楽：ジェリー・ゴールドスミス (Jerry Goldsmith) 1979年発表] ではない。
その中で流れる音楽のカヴァー・アルバムでもない。個人的にはそんなコンセプトの作品はあってもいいと想う。
ことばに翻訳すれば"異形の映画音楽"とでもなるのだろう。
1977年の作品、バンドにとっては第2作である。

『ワン・オブ・ア・カインド (ONE OF A KIND)』 by ブラフォード (BRUFORD)

以前、こちらで書いたユー・ケイ (U. K.) と謂うバンドの、続編のひとつ、ではない。
そのバンドは、当時のビル・ブルーフォード (Bill Bruford) が関わった、いくつものセッション・ワーク (Session Works) と同様に、大きな括弧の中に括ってしまった方が、良いと想う。
つまり、彼の初のソロ名義の作品『フィールズ・グッド・トゥ・ミー (Feels Good To Me)』 [1978年発表] の、素直な発展の系譜にこの作品『ワン・オブ・ア・カインド (One Of A Kind)』 [1979年発表] を置けばいいのだ。

『2ND ALBUM』 by 頭脳警察

発せられたことばは単純だ。
誤解も曲解も、その可能性は殆どない。
だからと謂って、そのことばがまっすぐにこちらに飛び込んで来るかと問えば、必ずしもそうだとは断言出来ない。
そのことばを乗せて奏でられる筈の、メロディやリズムやビートと、激しくぶつかりあっているからだ。
その音楽は、ぼく達の耳に届くその前に、激しい軋轢と衝突を、自身のなかで、起こしてしまっているのだ。
