そんな感慨をだれもがほおっておいてくれればいいものの、ぼくの快感をみすかして、だれかがその正体をそおっと耳許に囁くのに違いないのだ。

『カーニバル (CARNIVAL)』 by デュラン・デュラン (DURAN DURAN)
彼等がデヴューした頃、ぼくは丁度、大学受験 (University Entrance Exam) の時季にあって、殆ど聴いていないのであった。それまで音楽を聴きながらかたしていた宿題やらなんやらを、その音楽なしでやる。そうすると、それを聴いている時間がなくなる。ついでに新譜購入も手控える。聴く暇がないから仕方ないやら丁度いいやら、そういうアアンビバレンス (Ambivalence) でダブルバインド (Double Bind) な構造に陥る。
そういった理由だ。だから彼等だけではない。その時季、音楽の新しい流れや風潮に関しては、空白となってしまう。

『デストピア (Deathtopia)』 by オートモッド (Auto-Mod)
彼等主宰のシリーズ・ギク『時の葬列 (Toki No Soretsu : A Funeral Procession. For The Decade)』[1983〜1985年開催] オムニバス作『時の葬列 (Toki No Soretsu : A Funeral Procession. For The Decade)』 [1984年発表] としても発表] は既にはじまっていた。
その成果のひとつとして、これまでマイナー・シーン [インディペンデント (Independent) 乃至インディーズ (Indies)と謂う名称はまだない] から抜け出してメジャー・レコード会社からのデヴューとなった。
ぼくの当時の認識はそうだった。
